Herman

In a red brick, low-rise flat, Herman awoke to the sight of his yellowing ceiling. He never could figure out what made it yellow, as he never smoked, and was meticulously clean. Maybe not meticulous, but a tidy man nonetheless. Having three cats tended to make one aware of dust and hair, and required regular cleaning of house. Herman got out of bed, dodging his various cats and their paraphernalia, and started his daily routine. Wake up, shower, get dressed, poke the beginning of a stomach paunch, and go to work. It was not a particularly engaging life, but it was what Herman knew from the past 40 years.
